Dear Pastor Johnson & Cornerstone Baptist Church,
Recently, I was pondering on getting back up to speed after the last 2-3 years of setbacks, and I remembered when I was a boy and used to see in the circus – on TV variety shows – on talent shows the “plate spinning.”
If you don’t know what I am talking about, check out “plate spinning” on YouTube. The guy spinning the plates gets some going, but those slow down and he gets more plates going, so he has to run back to those and give them another spin, etc. That seems me to be a good illustration of the work here (and maybe there!)
Pray with us about “restarting” divided Sunday School classes. Our attendance is beginning to constantly above 70, sometimes even hitting 100. We have 6 empty, unused at the moment, Sunday School rooms. What we don’t have is that many experienced teachers. So, we are preparing to train new teachers. For that we need qualified volunteers.
I mentioned in last letter that the term “Faith Promise” is not in the Bible, but the plan is there! Neither do I find the term Sunday School, but I see the outline and plan there! 1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some (teachers) in the church… Ephesians 4:11 And he (Christ) gave… teachers; CERTAINLY, THESE ARE SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS!
I also feel sometimes like I am “spinning plates” trying to get the adults into their Sunday School Class! Sunday School is not just for kids! Sure, kids need to be there!
Deuteronomy 4:10 shows, Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God…, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together…, that they may learn…, and that they may teach their children.
And, 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
And, 11:19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine (Sunday School Room!) house, …
So, we have the SS rooms, the SS material (Bible and Flannelgraph), the students, (THE KIDS KEEP SAYING, “WHEN CAN WE DO THAT AGAIN?”) Please pray for members Leandro, Juan, & Nágila – that God will give them to be teachers; and pray for the arrival of Pr. Ailton and his wife Zinelia. Those with Cindy and I and Bro. Mike & Mrs. Ashlie, would fill all the rooms with teachers and we will start!
Thank you for your prayers!
Sincerely in Christ Jesus,
Tom Brewer
