Dear praying friends,
It is exciting to write this letter as an official NYC resident! God has opened the door for us to live in Pelham Bay in The Bronx. We are still unpacking but so thankful to be living here now. The street we live on is very diverse. We have a Latino family living above us, a Muslim family living on one side, and an African American family on the other side. We love the neighborhood God has placed us in and are thankful for the opportunity to be a light to our new neighbors! We are building connections in our neighborhood as we get to know the area and meet people at the stores and laundromat. God has already given us some very promising contacts for the new church plant!
While we are getting settled in our new home, we have had many opportunities to preach and minister in the city. It has been a blessing to preach for pastor friends who have had an influential role in helping us get to the city. Just a few weeks ago, hurricane Ida hit the northeast, causing a lot of damage and taking several lives. With so many basement apartments in the city, these homes were greatly affected (flooding like this picture from The New York Times). The next few days after the storm, we had many opportunities to help those in need.
Would you please pray with us that God would allow us to find a meeting place for the church plant? We are so excited to get started and trust God to open the next door for us soon. Also, pray for the contacts we are making and those we have shared the Gospel with these last few weeks. We are planting seeds and watering, knowing God will give the increase. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support!
