COVID-19 RESPONSE

As of March 16, 2020

Hey Cornerstone Baptist Church Family,

Hope you are doing well and “finding peace in the panic!” I wanted to let you know that in light of the President Trump’s new guidelines for limiting exposure to the COVID-19 virus (which says to “avoid social gatherings or groups of more than 10 people”) we will not be meeting at the church for any public services or events for the time being. We are moving to live stream only for the foreseeable future.

Bro. Blake and I have been working on a better live stream solution so the experience will be much improved. I plan to bring our first live stream service this coming Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. so be sure to tune in for a brief time of updates, information, and encouragement from God’s Word.

Click here for our Facebook page.

Also, the events we have been announcing have either been cancelled or postponed to a later date.

I know this is not our plan, but remember “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” —Isaiah 55:8. God is good and this is a wonderful opportunity to truly rejoice in the Lord!

If there is anything I can personally do serve you and help you in any way, please email me at pastor@cbcok.net or call me on my cell phone at 405-923-1780.

I love and appreciate you and I look forward to sharing with you right here on Facebook LIVE on Wednesday night at 7PM!

Pastor Eric Johnson

Dear Cornerstone Baptist Church Family,

Here’s our response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation…

We plan to have our normal service schedule this Sunday and going forward. This may change as the situation continues to unfold, but for now this is the plan.

The safety and health of our church family and community are very important to me. Here are a few things we are doing to help keep our church family healthy and protected during this time.

  • We will pause our normal handshaking/greeting time during our services
  • We will have hand sanitizer bottles at the entrance to our sanctuary
  • All of the door handles and light switches will be cleaned and sanitized
  • All of the toys in the children’s ministry will be sanitized

In compliance with the CDC, we also advise that you follow standard hygiene practices to stay healthy. These practices include washing hands frequently, using hand sanitizer, covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, avoiding touching your face, and abstaining contact with sick individuals. These tips will also help protect you against the common cold and flu.

If you are feeling ill, we encourage you to stay home and watch our services online via Facebook Live. The audio from both the morning and evening services will be on our church website within 24 hours at cbcok.net/sermons. You may also give tithes and offerings through our website at cbcok.net/give.

In the midst of this uncertain time, one thing is clear and that is “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7) Please don’t worry, fret, or fear during this time. God is still on the throne and He is still in control! To help us understand this better, I am planning to bring a message in the morning service entitled “Finding Peace in the Panic.”

Also, please pray for those affected and for God’s wisdom in the days ahead. And let’s look for opportunities to share the peace and the hope that only comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ with those around us.

Finally, let me say that I love you and thank God for you.

God bless,

Pastor Eric Johnson
