Tuesday Newsday
Thank you for praying for Pedro, the young man in his 20s, who watched our services online for a year before attending in person. The first time he visited, his father came with him, and explain that he was an atheist, but since his son had made this decision to put his faith in Christ, they wanted to be supportive as parents. Pedro came several more Sundays and this past Sunday his mother came with him for the first time. Since Pedro has expressed the desire to be baptized, Beau suggested they meet during the week to study what the Bible says about salvation and baptism to make sure he understands. His mother, Mafalda, asked if she could also attend as she is interested in knowing also. They will meet today for the first time. Of course, we are praying for the salvation of the rest of his family!
Also, I (Valerie) was at my usual nail/hair salon when Sonia, a lady who works there, came in and was visibly upset at the palm reading she had just received. She began speaking to the others about it, which led to a conversation of whether or not it was accurate, and who among them was or wasn’t afraid to die, and why, and whether or not you can really know what happens after death. Rute looked me square in the eyes and asked me “Are you afraid to die? Do you think anyone knows what happens after death?” This is the second time I have been able to witness to her (I have shared her name and story in the Tuesday Newsday before) and the day after, I followed up by sending her some verses and questions to think on. She replied that she would read everything I had sent. Though I have not heard from her again this week, I have been constantly praying that the seeds of the gospel would take root, and that her faith would begin to grow.
Please also pray as we approach a tutoring center near our church about renting some classrooms on Sunday morning to be able to accommodate our growing Sunday school classes. We recently had to discontinue our 7 and up class in order to accommodate the younger kids who are unable to sit through the service. Meanwhile, we are searching and praying for the Lord to provide us more space as we try to think of out of the box solutions in the interim.
Have a great week!!!
