Surgery calls for a little spoiling… and wacky Wednesday in celebration of Dr. Seuss week.
Thank you to those who missed the Tuesday Newsday last week and wrote to inquire about how Owen was doing after surgery.
When I got ready to send out an update last week, I wasn’t able to. I received a notification that MailChimp, the emailing system we have used for several years, would be increasing their prices to $50 a month for the volume of messages we send out. This required us to do some research on the best way to continue sending out our updates. This may also require you to adjust your settings or add this new platform as a “known contact” to prevent it from going to a spam folder. Please feel free to give us feedback on how it was visible for you (whether on computer or phone) and if you had any trouble with it.
Although things did not run on time, and didn’t go exactly how we were told they would, Owen’s surgery was successful. During the first 24 hours we had a hard time managing his pain, but after that he was steadily on the road to recovery. He spent 10 days off his feet, but yesterday he got his stitches out and today he was able to return to school thanks to loose-fitting crocs 😁 he is still “hobbling” some but will be 100% soon.
The Sunday Owen and I stayed home from church was our highest attended Sunday to date. In fact, today, Beau is in Spain (Costco) buying more chairs. Since we don’t have room for them in the auditorium, they will go outside the front door. We continue to pray for funds and lower real estate prices in order to buy a bigger building. At the same time, we maintain gratitude for what we have, as we received a letter last month that our contract would not be renewed and we needed to turn the property back over by July 1. After much prayer, many dead-end options and closed doors, as well as many meetings, God intervened and our landlord is allowing us to stay until the spring of 2024. We are anxious to see what God has in store as we see the clock ticking.
Thank you for your prayers and have a great week!
