Moore Family to Portugal

Moore Family to Portugal

Happy Tuesday!

This past Saturday, Beau organized a Fellowship Meeting among area churches for the purpose of emphasizing missions and church planting.  Both speakers did a great job.  One had served as a missionary in Africa for many years, and another been part of a church plant “on the other side of the river” from a church here in Lisbon.  He explained the process, the challenges, how God blessed, and how it is going now.  We are praying it was an inspiration to other churches to be a part of the mission.  To quote him, “The problem of the church today is that we ‘celebrate missions’ when we are supposed to be a PART of THE MISSION.”  It is always a temptation to look at “missions” as a compartment of the church.  But the reality is, Jesus’ command was the same for every member of the church – the mission – making disciples aka reproducing followers of Christ through the church.  Did God separate some to evangelize certain groups of people?  Yes, but they were trusting the others were going to do the job where they were, so those sent out had the freedom to do the job where they went.   We are counting on you to do the work in your corner of the world (what was once our corner, also), because we actually all have the same mission.  At the end of the day, our job description is barely different from yours – the main difference being location.

For fun… enjoy some pictures of spirit week costumes – a football player, a chef, and Olaf. Family game night (bottom left), and Mocha the Border Collie in shades.

Have a great week.  ‘Til next Tuesday!
