On our way home from a pastors retreat in Argentina, as the rain storm passed by, one of the most brilliant rainbows that I have ever seen appeared as though it was in the middle of the road. Its brightness seemed that there might be a pot of gold waiting at its end. We know God promised Noah he would never destroy the whole earth with water as he had done in the flood. He put the rainbow in the sky to remind us of his promise, Genesis 9:8-17.
We find in Job that man seeks to find wisdom and intelligence, Job 28:12. The knowledge and wisdom that we need is not found in gold or anything that is in this world, Job 28:15-17. Better than a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is the wisdom found in God’s word. Wisdom and intelligence that will lead us through the trials of this life. So with Job we can say, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” Knowing that God knows us, leads us, and keeps us, is just like having a pot of gold. As the rainbow reminds us of God’s promise, let it also remind us that following the wisdom of God is more precious than gold.
William and Graciela lived across the street from our church. William attended our church almost a year before I led him in a decision to accept Christ as his Savior. I had the privilege to baptize them a few months later. They have both retired and have moved back to their home town of Tambores, a small town about four hours from Montevideo. We miss them and we are maintaining contact with them.
We enjoyed a picnic at the park with the older folks from our church. We had a nice time of food and fellowship. It was a beautiful day. This gave us an opportunity to invite new people to an activity that they might not other wise come to.
