It is hard to believe that it is fall. It is one of my favorite times of the year. The leaves are changing colors, things begin to slow down, and hunting season begins. We look forward to filling our freezer! This summer has flown by so quickly. It has been busy, yet productive. Besides church ministry, my family and I just finished replacing the roof on our home. We appreciated our son (Nate) and son-in-law (Steven) giving of their time to help with this project.
We also celebrated the birth of our third grandchild, Miles Brayden Rueb on August 22. He is my oldest daughter’s (Katelynn) second son. Mom and baby are doing well. Jaydon is starting a new job on the 26th working full-time for the State Highway Department. Sarah has started her junior year of high school. Cheryl has been busy with the garden and canning.
I have been pastoring now just over a year. The ministry seems slow, and not much fruit to be seen for all the effort. I do believe God will reward our faithfulness in time. I am currently preaching through Ephesians and Psalms. Throughout the summer my wife and I have been visiting each home in Hoven. It has allowed us the opportunity to introduce ourselves, invite them to church and give a witness for Christ. People have been friendly, but not very receptive because of their strong Catholic faith. Pray that we would see fruit from our visitation efforts.
Since COVID restrictions have been lifted, we recently started having Sunday services in the nursing homes in two nearby communities. The towns of Gettysburg and Bowdle have given us the opportunity to come once a month. It was nice to preach and sing to some new faces. This also gives us a chance to witness to the workers and visitors of the residents. Pray for these ministries.
I also purchased the shingles for our church roof that needs repaired. The roof is 820 square feet. We are praying for experienced volunteers to help us next summer, the week of June 19-23. We would like to have 8-10 guys. If you would like to help with this project, please email and let me know.
We appreciate everyone’s faithful prayers and financial support that allows us to serve God in South Dakota. May the Lord richly bless you!
